Have you ever asked yourself “Am I living my life in a healthy manner?” With all the changes our world is experiencing right now, we are beginning to wonder if our way of living is still the best way for us.
There are many ways to achieve a healthy lifestyle–and one important thing you must consider is your environment. Having a healthy and enjoyable surrounding helps keep our bodies relieve stress and fatigue. Our home is our shelter; the place where we find peace and tranquility. It is our escape to the busy world we live in today. So, how would you turn your place into an environment friendly, sustainable and healthy home? Here are some useful tips how to have a healthy and enjoyable living.
Consider your location.
Being in an apartment, you are limited as to what you can do to enhance your home, but you can think about how to utilize your space. First, check your surroundings. Are you in the middle of a busy, urban city? Are you near or is surrounded by trees and parks? Analyzing the environment around you will help you decide what to do next.
Energy Consumption
During the day, if a room isn’t being used, common sense will dictate to turn off the lights. If not, make sure you’re using compact fluorescent light bulbs. It’s brighter, and it consumes less electricity. If you live in an apartment with lots of windows, or enough to have natural light come in, try to use the sunlight instead of your artificial lights. You not only save energy, you can also enjoy the natural light of the sun.
Clean Air
For your air-conditioning, always have the filters checked in a regular basis. This way, you reduce your chances of inhaling unnecessary particles into your lungs from your old filters; it also reduces your monthly bills. If it’s a nice sunny day, you can always let some breeze inside to circulate your home. If you haven’t got one already, having a ceiling fan helps regulate warm air during those cold, winter days. As warm air rises, a ceiling fan helps distribute it around the room that would also make you reduce your usage of a heater.
Having a plant inside the house also helps you regulate the production of oxygen in your house. It’s not only healthy; you can also decorate your home with a mini garden!
Garbage Segregation
It will not only keep your waste orderly, it will also help you regulate which in your trash is still reusable and recyclable. Reusing and recycling will also help you save some money, instead of buying stuff over and over again.
Buy environment friendly products
One way to keep your surroundings clean and green is keeping and using things or objects that are made of recycled products, or products that you can reuse. It will lessen the cluttering in your trash, and your contribution to the garbage dumping.
Keep in mind that these are just some of the ways that could help not only us, but also our environment. We can always find more ways to utilize our home and improve it for the better.
