How can you Live Green?

Living green is nowadays like the general mantra especially since there is so much environmental degradation around us. Governments and non-governmental organizations have put up measures that are geared towards making the environment better. Environmental conservation efforts do not have to come from the government, you can also play a small but helpful role in this initiative.

One of the things you can do to make the environment greener is using alternative sources of energy.  Solar energy is one of the energy sources that people are yet to exploit fully. This energy that comes directly from the sun is 100% clean and renewable.  There is also wind energy and hydroelectric energy which are also very clean. These types of alternative energy sources do not emit any waste, which therefore means that they are perfectly safe for the environment.

There is a widespread use of plastics in society today and this has in a big way contributed to environmental degradation. Instead of using plastic products, you can start using similar products made from bio-degradable materials. If you have to use plastic materials, make sure that you store them properly after use so that they can be recycled. You can also re-use them severally before disposal.

Chemicals used in cleaning are also harmful to the environment and to your health as well. You can go green in your cleaning by using natural-based cleaning agents such as vinegar and baking soda. These products are available in almost all homes and can be used for general purpose cleaning. It is a common fact that the vehicles people use for transportation purposes emit toxic fumes that choke the environment. Riding a bicycle to work or even walking are good alternatives to these vehicles.

Living green is not only cost effective; it also makes the world we live in more comfortable.
